Once I had (eventually) gotten the audio I needed for the short film I made, I put together the footage with the songs, which actually was a very time-consuming process but I quite enjoyed it, having complete creative control of how things were presented. In addition I also used some image files over the top of the visual layers, which were some drawings of mine that I felt related to the entire story and song. Below is a screenshot of the entire film in the Timeline bar. As you can see can see why I said it was time-consuming.

Colour coding in Timeline

Light blue - regular footage filmed in 4K on my iPhone (for the most part)

Pink - adjustment layers; used for adjusting the colour scheme as well as brightness/contrast

Purple - stock footage (just after the 2 minute mark)

Green - audio (mp3 from Garageband)

Intro

For the introduction of my film it opens with some footage I shot at night, with some of my illustrations over the top. I shot the footage used on a train just out the window of the passing view.

It was quite a scenic shot of all the nightlights and the night sky which I thought was pleasant and calming to watch. This tied well in with the soft guitar into of the song 'Star Shopping', and it was supposed to seem slow, gradual and contemplative.

I used my own illustrations and art as a sort of symbol throughout the film, especially at the beginning as it shows two illustrations in quick succession. I simply dragged and dropped the image file over the footage layer (V1), to create a new layer, similar to how you can do in Photoshop. The footage below was still meant to be seen in the background.

The first drawing I did of me and my two friends, one of which is the girl (far right) who inspired this project because of the music she introduced to me, which of course was Lil Peep's music, which I covered in this film. I deliberately obscured the face of the other girl, as a sort of artistic choice, as I didn't really feel for her the same way. The second drawing shows just the character Jane, who represents who I used to love, smiling at the camera, which is actually from my sampling work.
