Below are my research pages for a few music videos I have had a look at as part of the research element for my Final Major Project. I have looked at some notable, well-known music videos as well as a few indie music videos that I picked out too. They all stem from pop as well as some indie/alternative music too to look at the contrast between the widely recognisable videos as well lesser-known ones (which were more my taste in music). For the places I went to research these videos I used YouTube (of course) as well as IMDb; which is mainly used for information on films, but had some information about famous music videos too. Full list of references at the bottom of this page.
The YouTube videos I looked at include:
Camila Cabello's 'Havana'
Marshmello, blackbear & YUNGBLUD - 'Tongue Tied'
Taylor Swift - 'Wildest Dreams'
Bastille - 'Blame' Blog Post Research On Blame
Royal Blood - 'Little Monster'
The White Stripes - 'Seven Nation Army'
a-ha - 'Take On Me'
In order to structure my research well and keep it concise, I used three main headings; however I didn't include them all in every video description, as for some of them the concept was pretty basic.
- Summary; a relatively brief description of what happens in the video (helpful when referencing/comparing)
- Story; a more detailed description of specific events in the video (as I am making a story-based video; to draw comparisons and get ideas)
- Notes; key points to consider when making this video as well as any other interest facts.
I have created a separate blog post for the music video 'Blame - Bastille' to research into it as that is the one I'm focusing on the most which influences my production for the short film.
