For the initial part of the summer project, I experimented with different portraits of the rear view of people's heads. I used a range of different specific editing techniques in Adobe Photoshop to alter the colours and textures in an artistic way. The work was made digitally, and then printed out for my A3 sketchbook, in which I presented my work to stretch across the pages. I played around and created a colour-wash type effect as well as an X-ray sort of effect by inverting the colours. I created 9 different images using Photoshop. However there were some copies I also printed out that I stuck into my sketchbook to present it in a different light.

These series of portraits feature the same people in different lighting. I explored the use of colour and texture throughout to create different atmospheres an settings. In some places I have inverted the colours (changing the darker tones to lighter tones). I also altered the whites, greys and blacks using the curves/levels tool and changing the shape of the line on the graph.
