To create this film it needed a plot, which I came up with for my film laid out as a storyboard. However to produce the film I needed the help of Natasha for filming and acting in the film as the main character. I also am one of the characters, the character in the opposite dimension that troubles Natasha from the other side and disappears as she injures herself. However it took me quite a while to come up with an inventive name that I thought reflected the film well, so I direted and produced the film with the help of others before getting to that part. Filmed with the help of Arren and Danny and their talent with capturing scenes with a camera.

Plot Summary

The summary of the story is rather simple as it is a shorter 5 week film project. At the beginning, both of our characters are lost (which is one person just in different dimensions) and walk down the same alleyway, which is ominous, unsafe and rather mysterious. The character comes across a second path leading away from the alley and is weary of it, but decides to head down it cautiously.

The character finds that the pathway leads inside to a complex. They run through the door, following each other into a maze filled with rooms and obscured by darkness. The character focus switches to Natasha, and as she is stalked by her shadow from another dimension, she runs into someone on the complex and trips, hitting her head. She passes out, and without her knowing, the shadow disconnects from her.

In her sleep she has visions of a different place altogether, one she does not recognise. She has a dream which is hugely metaphorical - her reflection from the dimension walks down some stairs, exploring a strange-looking basement. Eventually he finds a chair and sits down on it. The lights eerily dim down, and the reflection morphs into her. She sees herself getting up from the chair, and she walks away. This scenario is followed by a series of odd scenes of her falling away from her reflection.

She begins to lose her sense of self. She descends into madness, running around in confusion and fear. She does not know her reflection has left her. The climax happens when she encounters a strange room where she finds a mirror frame (inspired from the painting). She looks into it and realises her reflection was there all along.

Storyboard

The storyboard here I drew is very rough and does not contain the whole plot of the film, as that was mainly a vision in my mind, rather the specific shots that needed to be filmed represented by quick sketches (N standing for Natasha and Y for me, of course). At the top of the sheet you can see that I was brainstorming potential titles for the film I would be creating as well as additional notes round the sides of the boxes. I used rather stereotypical ragdoll looking illustrations to represent the male and female characters in the film and in different scenes.

I also used green markings for the scenes that I was yet to film after the initial week; as the filming process took longer than expected. The green star meant that these scenes were my priority as I didn't have any footage that I could use for those particular scenes, and the green dot simply meant I needed some footage for this bit, however if I was not able to film this bit, it wouldn't matter as much as I had other random bits of footage I could use to create this part of the film if there was no more shooting time. However on the final shooting day after the originally planned shooting week I was able to get everything done.
